Criminal Due Processes and Civil Rights Center
The Fifth Amendment to the U.S. Constitution reads:
“ No person shall be ... deprived of life, liberty, or property, without due process of law .... ”
The Fourteenth Amendment to the U.S. Constitution reads:
“ No State shall deprive any person of life, liberty, or property, without due process of law ...
We represent clients (adults and juveniles) who are charged with criminal conduct, including misdemeanors and felonies in both State and Federal Courts. We represent clients at Arraignments, Preliminary Examinations, Pre-Trial Conferences, Jury Trials, Bench Trials, Sentencing Hearings and Probation Violations. We also represent who are discriminated against and have claims under both Federal and State law.
Rights guaranteed to criminal suspects, defendants, offenders and prisoners were not included in the Bill of Rights for the benefit of criminals. Rather, they are fundamental political rights that protect all Americans from governmental abuse of power. These rights, found in the Fourth, Fifth, Sixth, Eighth and Fourteenth Amendments, include the guarantee against unreasonable search and seizure, the right to reasonable bail, the right to due process of law and the right to be free from cruel and unusual treatment. This "bundle of rights" is indispensable to a free society.
The civil rights of individuals to be free from unequal treatment based on legally-protected characteristics such as race, gender, disability, national origin, age, sexual orientation, and religion can arise in a number of settings -- including employment, housing, lending, and education.
Our firm is dedicated to protecting the rights of individuals.
